Crunches tend to hurt my back badly.. I have back problems as it is and crunches don't help any. I need a workout that works on my core but won't involve me havin to do crunches. Suggestions please? :/

I've got backproblems too and I've you do crunches wrong, your pain only gets worse. My advice is to do planking every day :-)

Try crossing your arms in front ofyou insteadof behind your head. You'll have less of a tendency to pull your head up with your arms soon fatigue. Also, close your eyes and really focus on your abs. Your mid section should guide your neck not vice versa. Also never tuck your chin in your chest keep it towards the ceiling.

Reverse crunches. Arms straight out from your torso. Palms down. Bend knees bringing them to your chest. Extend legs back out keeping your heels from touching the floor. Focus on feeling your sacrum rocking back and forth. I have the same back problems while doing crunches and these work great for your lower abdominals.

When doing crunches,  try keeping your back flat on the floor. Squeeze your abs to raise just your shoulders a couple of inches off the floor.  Hold for a second and then lower your shoulders back to the floor.
